Agios Nikolaos (Vatsa) beach, Kefalonia island: Agios Nikolaos is a marvelous village that lies on a lush green valley, one of the prettiest spots in Kefalonia. It is located 35 km from Argostoli and easily reachable driving from Sami to Poros. The main beach of Agios Nikolaos is quite inviting set amidst lush vegetation and pine trees.
The area is really quiet compared to other beaches of the island, a nice spot for isolation. The beach consists of sand and a few rocks on the sides. There are no tourists facilities, only a nice shaded tavern located next to the picturesque marina.
From the beach of Vatsa (also known as Agios Nikolaos beach from the name of the nearby church) starts the sequence of red sand beaches that cover the southern part of the peninsula of Lixouri.
It ‘a quiet beach with shallow water and there is also a small harbor near the small river that flows right next to the beach.
It is mainly used by fishing boats and dinghies.
