Gardenos Beach, Corfu: Gardenos is a little gem, one of Corfu’s undiscovered areas located 40 km southwest of the Corfu town and 5 km from the village of Lefkimi. The long sandy beach distinguishes not only for the lush green setting but also for the tranquil atmosphere.
The shallow and crystalline waters provide safety to the children and make this beach an ideal place for all types of visitors for those who want some privacy. A long tuft of cypress hills offer natural shade while several sunbeds and umbrellas are also available at the centre of the beach. It is also worth visiting the taverns overlooking the blue bay after a refreshing swim in Gardenos.
Distance from the town of Corfu is quite large, about 30 km from the airport but it is worth the drive.The region took it`s name after the small river which flows into the sea and separates Gardenos into two regions.
It is exclusively covered by sand which look more white than the sand on neighbouring beaches, usually waters are calm and shallow, so it is safe for families with children.
In Gardenos beach there are parasols and sunbeds which are rendered for an amount of about 5 euros per day, there are showers, and a variety of restaurants and taverns on the shore.
Walking on the shore towards the south, the equally beautiful beach Megali Lakka (Kanoula beach another name) can be reached.
In the region there are a few rooms to let, mini markets and a quite spacious parking lot just next to the beach.
In order to get to Gardenos beach you must drive through the lovely traditional village of Vitalades.
