The beach is ideal for snorkeling, especially on windless days. There are tamarisk trees near the beach, if you seek for natural shade. Sfinari is prefered mainly by visitors seeking remoteness.
There are buses running to Sfinari from Chania bus station, thus it is no problem if you don’t have a car, although a car is generally required for exploring Crete.
Tip: If you ascend the mountain on the south end of the beach, crossing the rocky Cape of Korakas full with carob trees, you’ll soon see the secluded beach of Platanakia on the other side of the mount. By careful descent, you can reach the beach and enjoy your bath.
