Skiathos Island, the most cosmopolitan island in the Northern Sporades, is truly a paradise on earth, with lush pine forests and crystal-clear azure waters. Skiathos Island – Magical Places
The most famous is Koukounariés, which has been declared the third most beautiful beach in the Mediterranean. When you add in its bustling nightlife, it is only natural that the island attracts thousands of young visitors every year!
Vromolimnos beach is one of the most popular beaches in the island. This is also one of the reason why it can get crowded sometimes. Nonetheless, it’s great for enjoy the clear waters of the island and relaxing by the shore.
Mandraki is another amazing beach on the island, less crowded and with whiter sand. It also has more waves but there’s a good thing if you like water activities such as wind-surfing.
Monastery of Evangelistria
The Monastery of Evangelistria is the biggest and most significant monastery in the island. The dome of the building is amazing and on the outside it looks like a beautiful church surrounded by flowers.
Kastro, or in English Castle, is what the ruins on the edge of the island are called. they belonged to a small castle but now only a small structure remains. However, from this location you can get an absolutely breathtaking view of the island and the Aegean Sea ahead of it.
Koukounaries Beach is one of the most beautiful on the island thanks to its turquoise waters near the shore and their clearness. Plus it is surrounded by a forest of green trees, creating a gorgeous landscape.
Troulos is another lovely beach that is secluded which means it’s still very pristine and away from crowds. If you like small beaches, you’ll love this one!
Speaking of gorgeous absolutely mindblowing sapphire waters and soft golden sand, here’s the most incredible sandy beach of the island. It’s a small paradise within the island, perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the soft fine sand and the warm waters.
Bourtzi is a tiny peninsula connected with the main island. It used to be a walled fort built to protect the port of the island. Now some of the walls and ruins of the fort remain and they have become a beautiful attraction among tourists.
Skiathos Old Town
What to say about this picturesque, magical town? It is know that old towns on Greek islands are especially beautiful and idyllic but this one outdoes most of them. Colours, nature and good neat architecture mixed into one to create this charming town.
Finally we have the most popular beach on the island and also one of the most well known in the world. Lalaria beach is surrounded by sea caves and stone arches which give the hills surrounding it a very rugged look. The beach is completely white and the water is crystal clear. You’ll need a boat to explore the nearby caves!
