Tsoukalades village, Lefkada: Tsoukalades is a pretty mountainous village located 6 km west of Lefkada Town. The area is a fine example of traditional architecture with lovely stone built houses and tiled roofs with special details. Around the village you will also notice some nice hotels in case you want to spend the night here.
The picturesque village of Tsoukalades is built quite high up above the west coast of Lefkada, about 15 minutes drive from Lefkada town. You can admire here a commanding view of the Ionian sea from many perspectives. Here the vegetation changes, with olives giving way to the pines which cloak the steep and rock slopes leading down to the north west coast. All the houses are of traditional style and are separated by narrow streets. The village is famous for its stunning sunsets.
Tsoukalades is a pleasant enough village with some pretty houses which are symptomatic of the design on the island: notice the orange curved tiles on the roofs of the houses which are almost uniform in their design.
There are a few hotels here, although it is mostly populated by locals’ dwellings.
A road slopes down from here to Kaminia beach which is pleasant enough and fairly unpopulated. Near Tsoukalades is located the beautiful sandy beach of Pefkoulia, where you can enjoy swimming in the green blue water.
